Charges upped in Morgantown murder case

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A man is now being held without bond in a deadly home invasion on Montrose Avenue in Morgantown.

Jeremiah McKinley Martin Jr., 32, of Westover, was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Saturday for first-degree murder. No bond was set.

Martin had previously been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy in connection to the incident back on March 31. Two men forced their way into the home on Montrose Avenue, according to police, and opened fire. Jesse James Loya, 36, of Morgantown was shot and killed while Kyle 22, of Morgantown, was wounded.

Martin was arrested on April 2 in the Fairmont area.

Police have also charged a second suspect in the incident. Benjamin Louis Bradley, 32, of Westover, was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy for his role in the incident. He had his bond set at $75,000.
