WVU BOG approves new engineering building for WVU Tech at Beckley

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Engineering students moving from West Virginia University Tech in Montgomery to the school’s new home in Beckley will be greeted with a new engineering lab building.

The WVU Board of Governors approved the $2.3 million project at its meeting Friday in Morgantown.

The building, with a projected May 2017 completion, will include lab space along with space for welding and materials testing and engine testing. WVU is borrowing money from the WVU Research Corp. to finance the project.

There will be a full compliment of classes for freshmen at the Beckley campus this fall, WVU Tech President Carolyn Long told the BOG Friday. All academic programs are scheduled to have completed the move from Montgomery to Beckley by the fall of 2017.
