PRINCETON, W.Va. — A husband and wife were arrested Saturday after allegedly faking a hostage situation to rob a convenience store in Mercer County.
Jeremy Perdue, 29, and Sierra Perdue, 25, both of Princeton, are charged with armed robbery and conspiracy after attempting to hold up the Riverside Pop Shop in Bramwell.
Deputies say when they responded to the robbery late Friday night, witnesses told them that Jeremy placed a gun to the head of a female and escorted her into the store.
The woman was actually Sierra, his wife. Police said Jeremy Perdue ordered an employee to place an undisclosed amount of cash from the register into a black bag. He then backed out of the door and fled on foot.
Deputies say Jeremy Perdue also fit the description of a suspect in an armed robbery of Gino’s Pizza in Bluewell that occurred last weekend.
He was being charged with first-degree robbery in that alleged robbery.
Both Jeremy and Sierra Perdue were being held in Southern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
