Ohio woman faces prison after admitting to stealing from Wheeling elderly woman

WHEELING, W.Va. — A Shadyside, Ohio woman faces between one and ten years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to stealing from a terminally ill woman.

Stephanie Walker was a caregiver for a woman suffering from heart failure for Visiting Angels. Police say she she stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from the woman and sold it.

The theft happened in Oct. 2015 at a home on Table Rock Lane in Ohio County.

Some of the stolen jewelry was returned to the family, but some of it was melted down.

Walker admitted to financial exploitation of an elderly person. A felony grand larceny charge was dismissed as part of the plea deal. She’ll be sentenced on May 20.
