Trial continued for Randolph County man accused of sexual assault

ELKINS, W.Va. — The trial of a Randolph County man facing numerous sexual assault charges has been continued.

Jury selection in the case of Wilfred “Dee” Hinchman II, of Beverly, is now set for August 1, with arguments to begin after.

Randolph County Circuit Judge John L. Henning granted the joint motion for continuance Wednesday morning.

The reason for the delay was a conflict with the schedule for a witness and the defense attorneys, according to Randolph County Prosecutor Michael Parker.

Hinchamn was indicted in October of last year and now faces 37 counts of 1st degree Sexual Assault and 23 counts of 3rd degree Sexual Assault.

Police allege the assault involved a girl over the course of five years.

The case has already gone to trial but a mistrial was declared after the jury could not reach a verdict in January.

Hinchman is currently free on bond.
