Three more Mountaineers taken Saturday in NFL Draft

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Three more former Mountaineers were selected in the NFL draft on Saturday, giving WVU five overall selections on the year.

It’s the most NFL draft picks for West Virginia since six Mountaineers were selected in 1999.

Linebacker Nick Kwiatkowski was the first to get selected on Saturday, going in the fourth round to the Chicago Bears as the overall 113th selection. Running back Wendell Smallwood and safety K.J. Dillon were both selected in the fifth round, with Smallwood going to the Philadelphia Eagles as the 153rd overall pick and Dillon going to the Houston Texans in the 159th overall selection.

Safety Karl Joseph was taken 14th in the first round by the Oakland Raiders Thursday, while cornerback Daryl Worley was selected in the third round Friday by the Carolina Panthers with the 77th overall pick.
