Harrison County man pleads guilty to federal gun charge

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A convicted domestic violence offender in Harrison County has been convicted of a federal weapons charges.

John Patrick Blair, 64, of Clarksburg, pled guilty Monday to unlawful possession of a firearm, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.

Blair was discovered in unlawful possession of a .357 magnum caliber rifle in August 2014 in Harrison County, West Virginia.

Previously, he was convicted in April 2010 in the Magistrate Court of Harrison County of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

Blair entered his guilty plea Monday to one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence and faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The Clarksburg Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Adkins prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, while U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided.
