ELKINS, W.Va. — A Randolph County man will spend just over eight years in federal prison for his role in a multi-state drug trafficking operation.
Chad Allen Workman, 38, of Beverly, was sentenced Wednesday to 97 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey.
Workman, along with other individuals, conspired to transport large quantities of oxycodone and marijuana across state lines into West Virginia.
The oxycodone was commonly transported from sources in Michigan, Florida and New Jersey, while the marijuana was commonly obtained from sources in Pennsylvania and California.
Workman further utilized the unlawful proceeds of the drug trafficking operation to purchase vehicles, real estate, and personal vacations.
He pled guilty in October 2015 to one count of Money Laundering and as part of the sentenced imposed, Workman was ordered to pay a money judgment of $224,400 and to forfeit his interest in a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle.
The Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force led the inquiry. The Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, the IRS – Criminal Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office also investigated.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
