LOST CREEK, W.Va. — Class AA No. 10 Ravenswood scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning on Friday night, erasing a 3-0 deficit, to beat Braxton County 4-3 in the LKC semifinals.
“Our kids have battled all year right to the end,” said Ravenswood coach Wes Swain. “Our kids are very young, but what they do really well is fight to the very end. We were taking until we got a strike in the seventh – when it’s a 2-0 count, the pressure is on (Braxton County).”
It was Swain’s son, Chase, who blasted a solo home run in the seventh to give the Red Devils the 4-3 advantage and ultimate win.
“That was big,” Swain said of his son’s effort. “Chase has come up big in several situations this year. He’s a guy who I want to play in pressure situations – he seems to come through a lot more than he doesn’t. That’s the type of kid that he his.”
Ravenswood improved to 17-9 with the win, while Braxton County dropped to 17-8.
