Summers County’s Ryan takes job with WVSSAC

HINTON, W.Va. — Veteran Summers County athletic director, girls basketball coach and baseball coach Wayne Ryan announced on Tuesday he will be stepping down after accepting an assistant executive director position with the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission.

Ryan spent 21 years as head coach of the Summers County girls basketball team, ending his tenure with 15 state tournament appearances and six state championships. Included in that title run was a 105 game winning streak and five consecutive titles.

His girls basketball career coaching record with Summers County stands at 447-100.
