Man in custody in connection with fatal shooting at Charleston bar

CHARLESTON, W.Va. —  Police arrested a man Saturday night during a raid in connection with a fatal shooting at a West Side bar last week.

Jacques Slade, of North Carolina, will face a first degree murder charge in the alleged killing of Jamaine Sutton of Dunbar, at Boondocks Bar and Grill on May 14.

Sutton died at the scene.Three others were also shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Two witnesses inside the bar that night identified Slade as the person who shot and killed Sutton, police said. Detectives also say video surveillance inside the bar confirmed both of the witness statements.

Donnell Strong, 26, also known as “Pops Alot” or “Pops,” is still wanted by detectives in connection to the shooting.
