Murder arrest made in Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. — A Mercer County man charged with murder, malicious assault and robbery remained behind bars Sunday.

Orlando Davis, 42, of Bluefield

State Police arrested Orlando Davis, 42, of Bluefield, on Saturday night for the murder of Randal Morgan, 54, of Bluefield.

Morgan died earlier Saturday at a Roanoke, Virginia hospital after being attacked Friday in a bathroom at the Bluewell Kroger store.

Troopers claimed Davis was trying to rob Morgan at the time of the attack.

Also on Friday, Davis allegedly attacked Waylon Neal, 18, of Bluefield, at the Save-A-Lot store in Brushfork during another alleged robbery attempt, State Police said.

Neal survived the attack but his jaw was reportedly broken in multiple places.

Davis was a federal fugitive wanted in San Diego, California and a leader within the California Crips street gang, according to troopers.

As of Sunday, it was not clear how long he’d been in West Virginia.
