Robbery victim chased down suspect, police say

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The victim of an alleged midday robbery in Charleston chased down the man charged with the crime, police said.

William Courts, 26, of Charleston, was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in his car at just after noon Monday at the intersection of Washington Street East and Ruffner Ave. Courts took off after the suspect, identified as Jallen Malik Alexander, who was running toward the state capitol. Courts also chased Alexander on foot police said.

Charleston police arrived on the scene and arrested Alexander and charged him with first degree robbery. They are investigating to see if anyone else was involved.
