Greenbrier County rescue teams still searching for 14-year-old girl

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Authorities in Greenbrier County are still searching for a 14-year-old girl who was taken from her brother’s grip in last Thursday’s flooding.

Mykala Phillips was at home with her two siblings when the water in White Sulphur Springs started to rise. She slipped away from the two after they tried to tie themselves together and get to safety by busting through a window of the house.

Rescue teams with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Dept. are searching for Phillips between the Greenbrier and Harts Run.

Volunteer firefighters from Bristol, Tenn., Phillips’ hometown, will also be arriving on Thursday to assist with the search.

Anyone with information on Phillips’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Dept. or White Sulphur Springs Police.
