Jackson, Lincoln counties added to disaster declaration

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The federal disaster declaration in West Virginia following the June 23 record-setting flood expanded to 12 counties Friday when the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Jackson and Lincoln counties had been added.

Both counties reported damage to homes and roads. FEMA traveled to both counties Thursday to review the damage.

Residents with damage in the two counties can apply for FEMA assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or by applying online at DisasterAssistance.gov.

The other counties under the declaration include Greenbrier, Kanawha, Roane, Clay, Nicholas, Webster, Fayette, Monroe, Pocahontas and Summers counties.

A young Jackson County boy, Edward McMillion, 4, was one of the 23 victims claimed in floodwaters. He was swept way in water near Ravenswood on June 23. His body was found the next day.
