State Democratic Party releases delegate selections for DNC next month

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Democratic Party released a list Wednesday of its chosen delegates for next month’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“The enthusiasm of Democrats in 2016 is astounding and we could not be more proud to come together and work united to move our Party forward and win in November and beyond,” said Belinda Biafore, WVDP Chair. “We are proud and excited to introduce our Delegates for 2016.”

Sen. Minority Leader Jeff Kessler was chosen as a pledged delegate to U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.)

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, state Treasurer John Perdue, Secretary of State Natalie Tennant and Biafore were chosen as unpledged delegates.

Del. Barbara Evans Fleishauer (D-Monongalia) was chosen as a representative for Hillary Clinton in the 1st Congressional District. Del. Mike Pushkin (D-Kanawha) will represent Sanders in the 2nd Congressional District.

West Virginia will send 37 Delegates to the DNC at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia July 25 to 28.
