HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Thundering Herd will play its first game of the Conference USA portion of the schedule this season on the final day of 2016. C-USA released the league schedule for the 2016-17 season Wednesday afternoon. Marshall will start the conference slate on the road at FIU on Dec. 31 and at Florida Atlantic on Jan. 2.
Old Dominion, Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, UAB and Western Kentucky will tangle with the Herd twice while Marshall will play host to UTSA, UTEP, Rice and North Texas. The Herd will also make road trips to FIU, FAU, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech.
Marshall won 12 conference games last season, the first time since 2000-01 when the Herd was a member of the Mid-American Conference.
The non-conference portion of the schedule is still be finalized and will be released at a later date.
