MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown City Manager Jeff Mikorski is stepping down from his post to take a new position in Wisconsin.

WAJR’s Sunshine Wiles confirmed Mikorski’s departure.

Mikorski released a statement to WAJR News Friday morning announcing his resignation, effective August 19. Media reports out of Wisconsin surfaced Thursday night that Mikorski had been hired as the new city administrator in Verona, Wisconsin.

“I have enjoyed working for the City and will miss the City employees, volunteers on our boards, and the City residents,” Mikorski said in a written statement.

“I am most proud of the work I did to improve the downtown environment, working with neighborhood leaders on the Neighborhood Coordinating Council, improving the benefits for the City employees, and stabilizing the City’s financial condition.

“I would love to see the projects that have been started get completed such as the Deckers Creek Pedestrian Bridge and the downtown municipal wireless project, I think they will have a big impact on the City.”

Mikorski has spent the last 16 years with the city of Morgantown, serving as the city manager since 2013 and assistant city manager prior to that.
