Mingo man faces 120 year prison sentence after guilty plea in connection to deadly robbery

CRUM, W.Va. — A Mingo County man pleaded guilty Monday to charges in connection with a deadly home invasion in the Wayne County town of Crum.

William Messer, 32, of Kermit, is one of three people who are accused of invading the home of Jeffrey “Bub” Crum in December 2014 on Tripp Siding Road. Messer pleaded guilty to second degree murder and first degree robbery.

Messer faces 40 years behind bars for the murder charge and 80 years for the robbery charge — both to be served concurrent.

Shane Marcum, 26, and Teresea Jarrell, 25, both of Kermit, were also charged in the case. Both are set to be in court in October. Messer agreed to testify against Marcum as part of his plea deal.

Investigators said the suspects robbed Crum of his prescription pills and money.
