Police officer charged in stalking case

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A Mount Hope police officer awaits a hearing in Fayette County Magistrate Court after being charged with allegedly stalking her former girlfriend.

Officer Angela Stroud allegedly continued to contact a woman after that woman had ended a previous romantic relationship, Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said.

The alleged victim told deputies Stroud called and sent text messages to her on multiple occasions and also visited her home weeks after the relationship was over.

Officer Stroud turned herself in last Saturday and was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge of stalking.

“Filing a criminal charge against another police officer is certainly not something that we take lightly, but police officers are also expected to adhere to a higher standard of conduct than members of the public at large,” Sheriff Kessler said.
