4 face murder charges in connection to Parkersburg man’s death

GRANTSVILLE, W.Va. — Four people have been charged with the murder of Parkersburg man.

The body of Lewis Maurell Bartlett III, 37, of Parkersburg, was discovered by state police last week in a ditch line off of Hardman Fork Road. Troopers said he appeared to have been shot several times.

Alex Dunn, 27, of Parkersburg, Alisha Walker, 26, of Parkersburg, Derryl Anderson, 52, of Parkersburg and Trudy Dowler, 38, of Williamstown now face charges of first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery.

Police said Bartlett traveled to Calhoun County, with the four, to get meth and money that Barlett hid from them. When the group found the meth, Dunn allegedly shot Bartlett in the head, according to the criminal complaint.

Anderson is accused of stealing meth and Bartlett’s gun. Troopers said the group then fled the crime scene.

The police report said Bartlett’s murder is connected to a separate investigation where Joshua D. Shrader, 27, of Elizabeth, was kidnapped.
