2 charged in Morgantown car and credit card theft

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Two people are in jail after a stolen vehicle report in Morgantown.

Tuesday, July 26, a victim told police the vehicle, with a number of personal items inside, had been taken from Lyndhurst Avenue.

The next day, officers with the Morgantown Police Department discovered the car on Dorsey Avenue and returned it to the owner.  The victim reported that her debit card had been used multiple times in Monongalia County since the theft.

Detectives identified Samantha Sue Swaney, 26, as a possible suspect after reviewing surveillance video.

The investigation also led to a second suspect, Danny Eugene Robertson, Jr., 30, of Morgantown.

Swaney and Robertson were both charged with grand larceny, 2 counts of fraud with an access device and conspiracy.
