Plea deal rejected in Brooke County murder case

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — A man accused in the death of his baby son rejected a plea bargain agreement from prosecutors in Brooke County Circuit Court Friday.

The case against Christopher Kinker remains scheduled for trial beginning Aug. 29.

Kinker was charged with murder, child abuse causing death and knowingly allowing someone to do something to cause a death following the December 2014 death of his 7-week-old son. Kinker allegedly shook his son’s bassinet causing a skull fracture, broken ribs and a traumatic brain injury that resulted in his death.

Kinker and his attorney questioned a guilty plea on the third charge in the indictment.
