Preston deputies investigate fatal accident

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — The Preston County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a deadly Friday morning accident.

Emergency crews were called out in the early hours to the bottom of Cheat Mountain on George Washington Highway (Route 50).

Sheriff’s deputies, Union Ambulance and Aurora Volunteer Fire Department crews discovered the driver, who had been traveling alone, dead at the scene.

The cause of the single vehicle crash is under investigation.

Investigators have not released the victim’s name.
