WV Democrats push Clinton campaign after convention

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The last night of the Democratic National Convention, Retired General John Allen called this the most consequential election in recent history. His address had the crowd chanting “USA, USA, USA!” Taylor County Democratic Delegate Ronald Curry was there for it.

“I was very, very impressed. The entire convention was filled with absolute moments like that,” described Curry. “It was just terrific in my estimation.”

Curry was a guest on MetroNews “Talkline” with Hoppy Kercheval Friday morning.

The rally for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president, included the remarks from the 4 star general of the U.S. Marine Corp.
He was the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan from July 2011 to February 2013.

Clinton’s nearly hour long speech quickly referenced Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Earlier in the week, the candidate made comments that Russia should use espionage to find Clinton’s deleted emails. Trump later described the comment as sarcastic.
“Trump says that he jokes about many things. That’s just one of the points I think Secretary Clinton was driving home last night. This man is simply not qualified and does not have the temperament to be President of the United States,” Curry said.

Clinton accepted the nomination as the first woman of a major political party to find herself in that position.

Her speech, almost an hour long, promised “we can all rise together.”

Clinton lost the Democratic primary in West Virginia. Bernie Sanders collected 51.4 percent of the vote. Clinton votes came in with 35.8 percent of the vote.

Still, Trump some 30,000 more votes than Sanders in the West Virginia primary.

Curry calls for reconsideration in November.

“If you’re looking for economic progress, if you’re looking for support among the down trodden, if you are looking at social justice issues, Hillary Clinton is clearly the candidate.”
