Man arrested in Taylor County on attempted murder charge following overnight stabbing

KNOTTSVILLE, W.Va. — The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man early Friday morning on charges of attempted murder and malicious assault for stabbing his wife in both her back and hand.

Police say Jeffrey Price Lazzelle, 62, stabbed his wife at a campsite at the Lake Marie Campground on Haislip Farm Road in Knottsville shortly before 4 am.

First responders transported the victim to Grafton City Hospital with what Taylor County Sheriff Terry Skinner described as “severe, but not life-threatening” injuries.

Lazzelle is expected to face arraignment Friday in Taylor County Magistrate Court.

He is currently in Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
