Beckley man charged with murder

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Raleigh County police allege a Beckley man shot and killed his girlfriend’s husband during a dispute on Stanaford Road in Beckley Thursday night.

Joseph Michael Reid, 21, of Beckley, is in the Southern Regional Jail without bail after being charged with murder. He allegedly shot Aaron Williams in the chest.

Reid was with his girlfriend, Williams’ wife, Thursday night. When they arrived at the woman’s home Williams was there, police said. Reid then took off with the woman and her two small children in the car and Williams followed, according to a criminal complaint.

Reid and Williams later got into an altercation at the Stanaford Road location when Williams tried to get his children out of Reid’s car. Police allege that’s when Reid shot and killed Williams.
