Conviction in Preston County murder case

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — A man was convicted of murder Monday evening in Preston County Circuit Court.

A jury found John Wayne Strawser guilty of murder and fleeing with reckless indifference after he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend Amy Buckingham in April 2015.

Strawser, 39, of Terra Alta, killed Buckingham, 38, outside her home in Tunnelton.

Strawser was also convicted of fleeing police.

Sentencing is scheduled for October.
