Beckley Police searching for suspect wanted for first-degree murder

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Beckley Police were searching for a suspect Monday wanted for first-degree murder.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Tahim Maalik Simmons, 38. He was described as 5’6″ tall and weighing 206 pounds.

Police said the body of Calvin Lee Carlisle, 27, was found in the backyard covered beneath tree limbs and brush on Fayette Street last Thursday.

The autopsy revealed that Carlisle had suffered from blunt force injuries from a single gunshot, according to police.
