Manchin: U.S. Energy Secretary Moniz to visit W.Va. next month

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin announced Monday that U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz accepted his invitation to visit the Mountain State in September.

“I am pleased that Secretary Moniz has accepted my invitation to visit West Virginia and see firsthand the work West Virginians are doing to develop clean coal technology that our country and the world can use for decades to come,” said Manchin in a news release. “Coal is an abundant, affordable and reliable energy source. Our own Energy Information Administration projects that coal will make up nearly twenty percent of our electric generation mix through 2040 and it is important that we focus on leading the way in the development of new technologies that we can use to support economies at home and export abroad.”

Additional details for the visit will be announced at a later date, the release said.
