Western Regional Jail corrections officer charged after allegedly having sexual contact with inmate

BARBOUSVILLE, W.Va. — A correctional officer at Western Regional Jail faces charges after allegedly having sexual contact with an inmate last month.

Carl Westfall, 21, of Huntington, was charged with imposition of sexual acts on an incarcerated person.

The incident allegedly occurred in the woman’s cell on or about on July 21, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

Westfall could face between one and five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted. His preliminary hearing is slated for Sept. 13.
