Police arrest Fayette County man believed to have stabbed his brother

ANSTED, W.Va. — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Labor Day Weekend stabbing that sent one man to the hospital and put another behind bars.

Deputies responded to an alleged domestic incident after 11 pm Saturday night between two brothers near Ansted.

Police say Joshua Wayne Johnson, 20, of Ansted stabbed Teddy Wood, age unknown.

Wood was said to be “bleeding profusely” from multiple stab wounds when police arrived on scene.

First responders flew Wood by Air Evac to Charleston Area Medical Center. He is believed to be in stable condition.

Johnson is charged with felony malicious wounding.

Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said in a press release that the incident was not related to the recent resignation of both of Ansted’s police officers.

“This incident is no way attributable to the current lack of local police officers in Ansted,” he said. “This incident would no doubt have occurred whether an officer was on duty in the town or not, and it is highly likely that the Sheriff’s OFfice would have been called to the scene in any event due to our experience in processing major crime scenes and collecting evidence.”
