CSB in Charleston next week to release information on Freedom spill probe

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chemical Safety Board released more information Thursday about a news conference scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28, in Charleston in connection with the January 2014 chemical spill at Freedom Industries in Charleston.

CSB Chairperson Vanessa Allen Sutherland and supervisory investigator Johnnie Banks will answer questions in connection with the release of the board’s draft final report of the investigation that started following the leak of the chemical MCHM. The leak contaminated the drinking water of approximately 300,000 residents in parts of nine West Virginia counties.

The news conference will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Four Points Sheraton.
