DOH announces work on Interstate 64

HINTON, W.Va. — Projects are scheduled to begin Monday on different ends of Interstate 64, the state Division of Highways said.

A contractor will be making concrete repairs on the exit and entrance ramps at the Sandstone/Hinton exit in Summers County. The detour route will be at the Green Sulphur Springs/Meadow Bridge exit onto state Route 20. Motorists having to use the detour can expect an extra 10 minutes of travel time.

The project is scheduled to last a week.

On I-64 at Huntington, the second phase of the interstate bridges rehabilitation project is scheduled to enter its second phase Monday.

Motorists can expect the interstate to be reduced to one lane in each direction near the West Huntington exit. There will also be intermittent nighttime closures of the eastbound entrance and exit ramps.

The $2.9 million project includes the demolition of existing bridges and the construction of new bridges.

The work is scheduled to continue until August 2017.
