Woman dies in Kanawha County ATV accident

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Sunday evening ATV ride through the hills of Kanawha County ended tragically for a group Sunday.

Nicole Pullen, 25, of East Bank, was killed when she lost control of her ATV while riding in the Tad area of Campbell’s Creek in Kanawha County.  Pullen was with about 30 others on ATVs riding a trail when the accident occurred.

“One of the ATVs went off the trail and when she tried to make a turn she hit a tree, ejecting her and the passenger on the ATV,” said Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Brian Humphreys. “The passenger was stuck underneath the ATV and the driver was killed in the crash.”

There was no cell service in the remote area where they were riding.  The group attempted CPR, then loaded Pullen into a side-by-side ATV with a bed and went to the nearest house to seek help.

The passenger suffered minor cuts and bruises.  Investigators said there was no evidence of foul play or impaired driving in the accident.
