Hampshire County man killed in Berkeley County crash

TABLER STATION, W.Va. — A Hampshire County man was killed in a crash on Interstate 81 in Berkeley County Tuesday morning, state police said.

Robert Louis Peterson, 33, of Springfield, was traveling north near the Tabler Station Road exit at just after 6 a.m. when for some unknown reason his vehicle went across the median and into the southbound lane striking an oncoming truck head-on, troopers said.

Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital.

Traffic was backed up on Interstate 81 for several minutes.
