Students mourn death of Logan County student

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Students at Chapmanville Regional High School are mourning the death of a classmate.

Haley Adkins, 16, a junior at the school, was killed Wednesday morning in a traffic collision in Logan County, sheriff’s deputies said.

Adkins pulled out from Limestone Branch Road onto state Route 10 into the path of a truck. Adkins died a short time after the crash, police said.

Grief counselors were scheduled to be available for students Thursday at the school. Two memorial events are being planned for next week.

The truck driver and a passenger in Adkins’ vehicle were not seriously injured.
