MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The trial of a Winfield man accused in a deadly drunk driving incident in Morgantown earlier this year has been postponed until November.
Alexander Hambrick, 19, entered a not guilty plea in Monongalia County Circuit Court in July to charges of leaving the scene of an accident with death and DUI with death.
A grand jury handed down an indictment on those charges earlier this year.
According to Morgantown police, Hambrick ran his truck onto the sidewalk off of Stewart Street on Jan. 17 striking Carli Sears, 20, of Charleston. She died of her injuries.
Sears, a University of Mississippi student at the time, was a graduate of George Washington High School and reportedly visiting former classmates in Morgantown.
Hambrick, a WVU student at the time of the incident, is a 2015 graduate of Ripley High School.
Hambrick’s trial is now scheduled for Nov. 15.
