MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Michigan man has been charged in a Morgantown shooting.
Karmit Arnold Banks, 34 of Eastpointe, Michigan, was arrested by detectives with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and the MonMetro Drug Task Force Thursday at around 11:00 p.m. at a residence off of Stewartstown Rd.
Banks is accused of shooting a woman in the legs at a home on Wilson Avenue at approximately 2:20 a.m. Thursday.
According to Morgantown police, officers found the victim bleeding from a gunshot wound. She was in stable condition following treatment from a bullet that traveled through one leg and lodged in her other leg.
Witnesses told officers Banks entered the apartment armed with a gun.
He and the tenant were involved in a fight when the gun discharged during the struggle.
Banks was charged with 2 counts of malicious assault, 1 count of burglary and 5 counts of wanton endangerment.
