Putnam stabbing death facts going to grand jury

WINFIELD, W.Va. — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday it will take the facts of a man’s stabbing death to the grand jury for possible charges.

Shannon Jones, 39, of Scott Depot, died after being stabbed in the chest Oct. 7 at a residence in the Marina Park area in Teays Valley.

The stabbing stemmed from an argument between Jones and another man inside the residence, according to deputies.

The sheriff’s department released the following statement Friday:

“Upon the completion of the investigation and autopsy and with the approval of the Putnam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office a determination has been made to present this case to the Grand Jury for consideration of charges.”
