Woman dies in Raleigh County house fire

RHODELL, W.Va. — A mother in Raleigh County died in a house fire Monday after deputies say neighbors told them three children ran out of the home and screamed for help.

It happened at around 1 p.m. on Tommy Creek Road in Rhodell.

Authorities said the neighbor Linda Shrewsberry was alerted of the fire when she said the woman’s brother came out of the house and begged for help. He told Shrewsberry the woman was engulfed in flames and that he tried to put the fire out by wrapping her in a blanket.

The incident is being investigating by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.
