Town hall meeting will be part of education secretary visit

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Secretary of Education John King Jr will be part of a town hall discussion Thursday in Charleston.

King will discuss the role of early learning in the Every Student Succeeds Act, according to a news release from state Department of Education.

The town hall will be at the state Board of Education offices on the state capitol complex beginning at 9:30 a.m. King is scheduled to visit Piedmont Elementary School in Charleston before the meeting.

The news release lists the following residents who will be part of the town hall panel:

West Virginia Superintendent Michael Martirano

West Virginia Department of Education Chief Academic Officer Clayton Burch

Pam Smith, pre-k teacher, Buffalo Elementary School

Tabitha Parsons, parent, Piedmont Elementary School
