Clay County Schools chooses new interim superintendent

CLAY, W.Va. — Clay County Schools has a new interim superintendent.

Joe Paxton, the current assistant superintendent, will start the new job in January.

The Clay County Board of Education chose Paxton to fill the position at its meeting last week.

Paxton, 46, has been employed by Clay County Schools for more than 20 years.

He will replace current superintendent Kenneth Tanner who announced his retirement last month. Tanner had been with the school district for more than 30 years.
