Jackson County man indicted on charges related to baby’s death

RIPLEY, W.Va. — A man accused of sexually assaulting a baby girl, leading to her death, has been indicted on a number of charges.

Charges against Benjamin Taylor are heading to the grand jury.
Benjamin Taylor, 32, was arrested earlier this month.

A grand jury indicted Benjamin Taylor, 32, of Cottageville, on Oct. 25. The list of charges include: first-degree murder, felony murder, death of a child by child abuse, first-degree sexual assault and sexual abuse by a guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust.

Taylor allegedly raped his girlfriend’s 10 month old baby in the basement of a Ripley apartment earlier this month, police said.

Emmaleigh Barringer was found covered in blood and then was rushed to the hospital. She died a few days later.
