Gold & Blue Lunch: Kyzir White makes deep impact

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia safety Kyzir White has been unleashed on opposing quarterbacks for nine games but has yet to be unleashed to the media, per coach Dana Holgorsen’s interview preference.

Never fear, though. Linebacker Al-Rasheed Benton gave me his opinion on the man who mans the Spur position:

“He can play some really good ball. Just physically, he’s so gifted he can make plays other guys can’t. Mentally he’s coming along, getting better. When he gets those two together he’ll be the best player in the league, mark my words.”

That last part, I mean, wow. It steps beyond ordinary teammate praise and offers a window into why the junior college transfer essentially had a starting job before ever setting foot on campus.

Today’s Gold & Blue Lunch Report features Kyzir White and his brother Ka’Raun as we take stock of the 24-20 win over Texas.

A victory that elevated West Virginia to No. 10 in the AP and No. 9 in the coaches poll. We’ll learn what the college playoff committee thinks Tuesday night.
