Root Sports to air MetroNews Super Six television broadcasts

WHEELING, W.Va. — Two of the three West Virginia high school football state championship games next week from Wheeling Island Stadium will air live on Root Sports television.

MetroNews, in partnership with the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission, announced earlier this year that all three state title matchups would have live video streaming online at the MetroNews Channel of WVMetroNews.com. Now, both the Class AAA and AA championship games will also be carried live on television by Root Sports.

The Class A title game (on Saturday night, December 3) will air on Root Sports Monday, December 5 at 3 p.m. as a conflict with the Pittsburgh Penguins will prevent the game from being carried live on TV.

“We are thrilled that this will be another opportunity to bring more exposure to the quality football being played in West Virginia,” said WVSSAC executive director Bernie Dolan. “It’s a step in the right direction for high school athletics in the state.”

Travis Jones and Rasheed Marshall will be on the call for all three television broadcasts, with Fred Persinger and Dave Jecklin providing radio play-by-play on MetroNews affiliates and stations throughout the state.

All three games will also re-air on Root Sports at times to be determined. The games will be produced by Pikewood Sports for MetroNews and Root Sports.
