Man arrested in Fairmont murder

devon-stephensFAIRMONT, W.Va. — First degree murder charges have been filed against a man in Fairmont in connection to a deadly home invasion. Devon Stephens, 25, of Fairmont, was arrested Tuesday night.

Officers were called to an apartment on Watson Avenue on Nov. 17 to investigate a reported shooting and arrived to find Malcom Whitted, 27, of Detroit, dead on the apartment floor. Attempts by officers to revive Whitted were unsuccessful.

Police alleged Stephens was among five people involved in the shooting. Three people forced their way into the residence while two others waited outside, according to investigators.

Investigators believe the incident was drug related. The investigation is ongoing.
