Justice to have inaugural ball at Greenbrier Resort

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor-elect Jim Justice’s inauguration committee announced Thursday the owner of the Greenbrier Resort will be sworn in Jan. 16, 2017 at the state Capitol and then have the inaugural ball that night at the Greenbrier.

The ball is typically held at the Charleston Civic Center, but instead, Justice will be 120 miles away in Greenbrier County to celebrate after he takes the oath of office in the Capital City.

The inauguration ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Jan. 16 on the south steps of the state Capitol, facing the Kanawha River. The ball, which will start at 7:30 p.m., will feature live entertainment from major national and local acts.

The Justice team also announced Thursday Justice plans to attend the National Governors Association seminar for new governors preparing to take office. The event brings together governors-elect from around the country and current governors.

“I’ve stayed focused on meeting with experts in different fields during the transition; that’s why I am going to the NGA seminar,” said Justice in a news release. “I will be prepared for my first day in office. I’m looking forward to hearing more ideas from around the country about how we can make West Virginia number one.”
