2 dead in Mercer fire

DUNNS, W.Va. — Two people were killed in a house fire that began late Sunday night in Mercer County, the state Fire Marshal’s Office said.

The blaze was first reported at 11:30 p.m. at a residence on Acres Lane in the community of Dunns, which is about 8 miles north of Athens.

The fire was still burning and fire crews remained on the scene eight hours later, authorities said.

Investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office were headed to area Monday morning.
