Deadline approaching for Mylan employees to decide how to respond to job cuts

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Tuesday is the deadline for non-union Mylan Pharmaceutical employees to either accept severance packages or re-apply for their jobs after the company announced job cuts last week.Mylan

The pharmaceutical manufacturer will trim up to 10 percent of its global workforce which includes positions at the company’s facilities in Morgantown, W.Va., Washington, D.C., St. Albans City, Vt. and Greensboro, N.C.

Employees who voluntarily give up their jobs could be eligible for salary and benefits for a period of time based on longevity with the company. Also, they could have access to job search assistance.

Workers who accept an offered a buyout would continue to work through Jan. 11, 2017.

The company said layoffs are “highly likely” if Mylan does not meet its target number of voluntary separations.

Mylan recently agreed to a $465 million settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over its EpiPen product. The price of the life saving drug has increased more than 500 percent in nine years.
